  • $750 (US dollars) budget for the research

  • $350 (US dollars) toward travel costs to attend and present at the annual conference

  • automatic acceptance of paper into the 2010 conference

  • a 5-page proposal (12-size font, double-spaced)

  • use of feminist framework and methods must be evident

  • an information session about how to apply is often held at MSVU in the winter term- keep an eye out for this announcement

  • NOTE: successful applicants for this award will have previous research experience (e.g., as an undergraduate or graduate assistant on a research project- doing data analysis, assisting with papers or conference presentations, and so on) so if you are interested in applying for this award, you are strongly advised to get as much research experience as possible in advance of applying

  • all applicants must be preregistered - the preregistration date is Dec 1st, 2008, 4 p.m.

  • applications are available on-line- you download them onto your computer and complete there

  • check the web page for any additional eligibility requirements

      Capacity Building Student Award

  • open to both full-time and part-time students in a graduate research program, but not to recipients of NSHRF Student Research Awards

  • goal is to encourage and support research-related activities

  • given on a first-come first-serve basis- so can apply at any time during the year

  • Elizabeth Feniak award: $250

  • Foundation grant: variable- depends on the budget (but tend to be small as far as grants go)

  • Margaret Speechly Stansfield grant: up to $2000

  • Edith Rowles Simpson grant: up to $1000
