John R. Davis joined the Brigus, Cupids, Georgetown Pastoral Charge July 1,
2007. Rev. Davis enjoyed
a very rewarding thirty-year high school teaching career as classroom teacher,
program co-coordinator and administrator. Throughout life,
Rev. Davis has been very involved in the life and work of The United Church of
Canada mainly through his home churches, Park Avenue and Bethany United,
Carbonear. Following his retirement from teaching, he responded to a call to
ministry and began his ministry under the Lay Pastoral Ministry In Training
Program in 1997. In 2001, he was accepted as a candidate for ordained ministry
under the IMPO Program. During the past eleven years, he has served four
Pastoral Charges - Burgeo, Raleigh-Griquet, Norman's Cove and Campbellton, as a
full time minister. Rev. Davis was

Freshwater until completion of grade ten and graduated from the United Church
Regional High School, Carbonear. He received his BA Ed. (1967), B.A. (1973),

John Davis, Brigus/Cupids/Georgetown Pastoral Charge presented a cheque for $1,000 to Mr. John Steele, Chair, Daffodil Place Fundraising Committee. Rev. John Davis says 2008 was a time for multiple celebrations for the people of the Brigus/Cupids/Georgetown Pastoral Charge of the United Church of Canada. During the year, the use of Birthday/Anniversary Barrels became part of each worship service in each of the three communities served by the Pastoral Charge. "People were encouraged to celebrate their own and other family members' birthdays and anniversaries by making an offering of 10 cents for each year celebrated with the understanding that all monies collected would be used for their Outreach Ministry," Rev. Davis explained. Response from people was so overwhelming that by September the charge felt it appropriate to designate $1,000 for Daffodil Place. "We feel we have planted a seed that we hope will produce much more good fruit for Daffodil Place," Rev. Davis said. The following video clip is provided courtesy of Eastlink.
