"The solution to any problem - work, love, money, whatever - is
to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be."
- John Gierach - Standing in a River Waving a Stick
This web site is a small attempt at an enormous task. Since I have begun surfing the Net, being an avid fisherman, I've looked for sites having to do with fishing and all aspects of it. I soon realized that there is more out there than one could possibly go through in a lifetime. I found many good sites and many not-so-good ones.
So my goal here is to share with others what I have found to be the best fishing related sites on the Internet. I have categorized the sites, tried to rate some of them, provided some information about my local area (Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia), and myself, and given some other general information, including local weather and fish weight-estimator, which may be of interest to fellow anglers.
I hope you enjoy Johnny's Fishin' Hole. I've had lots of fun building it and am continuing to add to it. Please email me with your comments and observations or sign my guestbook before you leave. If you have a web site and would like to exchange links, please let me know. Thank you.

MY PHILOSOPHY ON FISHING (with thanks to Robert Traver)
I fish because I love to; because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly; because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape; because in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing things they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion; because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility and endless patience; because I suspect men are going along this way for the last time, and I for one don't want to waste the trip; because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters; because only in the woods can I find solitude without loneliness; because bourbon out of an old tin cup always tastes better out there; because maybe one day I will catch a mermaid; and, finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant -- and not nearly so much fun.
