George Dobson was the only child of Richard Dobson & Margaret Watson to leave England (except for Richard, who travelled to Nova Scotia on family business just prior to his death). Of those who remained, only John Dobson has an enduring list of descendants.
Much of the information on the following pages comes from primary research on typed transcripts of the parish registers from Marske-by-the-Sea, Yorkshire, and from census returns from the United Kingdom, 1851 through 1901 (all accessed online at Ancestry.co.uk). The 1841 census has been ordered and will be incorporated as soon as possible.
