A Proud Member of the Masonic Family

One of the wonderful things about the Al Shamal TLC Corps is that the members build their own riding units and are free to
personalize them as they want.  Many people ask how they are made and while each Unit is different it takes essentially the
same process throughout.

Since it's inception, the TLC Corps has based their riding units on common lawn tractor platforms.  We have recently modified
our constitution to allow members to use go karts as their base platform if they wish.  Below is a brief pictorial of the
processes involved.

Riding Lawn Mower version
(Noble Peter Rodger's unit)
  Go Kart version
(Noble Trevor Morton's unit)

It all starts with a common lawn tractor.

Any go kart suitable for an adult will do.

All unnecessary parts are gone (including the cutting unit)
and cardboard templates are created for the parts to be fabricated.

The wooden frame gets expanded upon and
the basic form starts to emerge.

Peter chose to build a trailer extension (from scratch)
for his unit.

Any metal work starts to be included.

Metal parts are fabricated from the templates

The outer skin is attached.

The unit is completed in it's raw form.

Room is left for the rider and any future electrical work

Painting and fabrication of the accordion hitch cover
are completed.

The whole unit is bondo'd and primed for painting

All the bells, whistles, lights and toys go on.

The first of many finish coats is applied.

And this particular unit gets unveiled at the
2008 Shrine Circus.

And this unit is complete and ready for lights, siren
and all the shiny toys we love so much.

Its often not possible for our members to construct
their units without the kind assistance of others.
Peter would like to thank
Martin Farm Equipment, McKinley Taylor and
Covenant Designs AutoBody Services
for their generous assistance with this project.
