Relax while learning Art
Courses are taught in a relaxed and creative manner. A warm wood fire and hot drinks enhance winter class atmosphere while spring, summer and fall classes can offer unique settings as well. Students are encouraged to bring creative materials to class including music.
Courses are designed to promote personal and/or professional enhancement and will add to the student's art and design skills, as well as being suitable for student's who are interested in producing finished works to enhance portfolio development.
Anyone who is 16 years of age or older is eligible to take either course. Please book early as classes are six students maximum.
Classes are during weeknights. One on one adult and child tutoring is available on weekends.
Students will experiment with basic drawing materials, techniques and concepts, line, form, shading will be explored through both direct observation and imagined subjects. This course will touch on why demonstrated ability to draw from observation is often a critical part of a visual portfolio when applying to art colleges. Bring pencils, charcoal, newsprint, board and clips, kneaded and white erasers to the first class.

Introduction to Illustration for Books
This course will introduce the fundamentals of illustration and ways to develop drawings into finished illustrations suitable for books. Through lectures, slides, exercises and class project students will learn about illustration techniques, media, professional standards and requirements to coordinate with writers and publishers. Students will be encouraged to develop their own personal style and will have the opportunity to have their project and sketchbook critiqued on an individual basis. Bring sketchbook and pencils to the first class.
$160 (8 sessions)

Maximum class size will be 6 students.
