I've had the privilege of being in the delivery room with 16 of my friends and family over the years and when I learned about Doulas, I knew this was what I was meant to be and I signed up for training within a week. It would be very difficult to describe the satisfaction and joy I feel when I know I've played a small role in helping to bring a new little one into the world.
Laurie Brannen - Labour Doula/ Professional Childbirth Assistant
I found this article and thought it was worth sharing… It tells about the real experience of an elephant in labour, how it reflects our human emotions and to remind us that we can trust our own bodies in childbirth.
To read it just click on the link and scroll down the page a little, it's called "Nature Sets an Example" - click here

As you know, my name is Laurie Brannen; I am a mom of three grown children and a grandma of 2 beautiful grand daughters Carley and Tori - the two beautiful girls you've seen pictured throughout my website.
. I live on Cape Sable Island on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and I have the unique distinction of being the first trained Doula in our immediate area. This gives me the opportunity to educate our community about the role and the benefits of having a Labour Doula.
