Life On The LaHave

Welcome to the website of Coral and Wayne Kincaid

We hope you enjoy the views of our home and will visit our
Daylily and Folk Art and Garden pages

This is our home on the LaHave River in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, Canada.

It was built in 1898 by a Sea Captain.  Note the "Widow's Walk" on the roof.  In days of old, the wives of seafaring men would watch the horizon from this platform to catch a glimpse of their men coming home from the sea.  As there were many ships and crews lost at sea,
 some vigils ended in sorrow.

We are the last home on a private lane which ends in this part of our yard.  Even though it is the entrance to our yard, I refer to it as the 'back'.

The greenhouse, which was added in
February 2000,
has provided many hours of enjoyment in the winter.  It is heated by a duct from the furnace and supplemented by an electric heater.  The windows are angled to provide maximum sunshine in the winter, but minimal sunrays in the summer.

The upriver view from the Widow's Walk.  This river is alive with pleasure craft in the summer months.  Sailboats are especially enjoyable to watch in the warm breeze that always seems to be blowing on the river.
