A Carroll's Corner Christmas - Calling All Elves!

Santa's Workshop here at the North Pole needs help...

Recruiting Elves... Reviewing the Rules...
Apprentices take their places at the workbenches... While Senior Elves guide newcomers in their tasks...
We let some of the parents help out in the workshop too; it keeps them happy and quiet!
All kinds of activities for home-made crafts, plus home-made goodies for 'Elven-Break' refreshments too.
This year's music was provided by a fiddle trio; they took requests of all kinds from all ages...
Our Annual Christmas party had a larger than usual crowd; providing a great turnout for crafts...
Christmas Story Time... & Photos with Santa!
Thanks to photographer Angela Lemmon for donating her services to raise money for Food Bank.
And thanks as well for all the generous donations to Caring & Sharing Food Bank and for visiting us here at the North Pole again this Christmas!

50 Mile Yard Sale - September 10
Terrific weather brought a terrific turnout of vendors and shoppers at Carroll's Corner for the 2011 50 Mile Yard Sale.  Traffic was brisk inside and out of the hall, with visitors of all ages enjoying the browsing, AND the BBQ.  Thanks especially to all our volunteers who made a busy day fly by so successfully!
Mastodon Fun Day 2011
Breakfast has become a popular part of Fun Day...
The merchandise auction used a new 'Luck of the Draw' system this year but as always the quality of the many items made it an attractive feature to young & old.
Carroll's Corner Annual Fun Day Parade
Our parade welcomes critters as well as cars!
Kids always enjoy being in the parade...
as do the antique vehicle owners!
Local businesses also like getting into the act...
while Emergency Services are also well represented.
This year parade watchers enjoyed some treats from the Milford Robins...
This year's winning parade entry showed plenty of creativity...

Pirates of the Corner-Bean

Arrrhh maties!

Stanley's Birthday Celebration
Councillor Steve Streatch, left and Halifax Mayor Peter Kelly at right congratulate Carroll's on their 20th Mastodon Days! The Carroll's Corner kids on stage to sing Happy Birthday to our mascot, Stanley the Mastodon - 80,000 years young!

Local cake decorator Becky Turner created a spectacular birthday

cake topped by the wooly mastodon Stanley himself.

Our guests of honour, including Bob Grantham, centre, ready to cut the cake.

Mayor Kelly himself served the cake to a long lineup of customers of all ages.

Food, Games & Fun Day Sights!

As always, the BBQ & the Bouncy Tent saw steady traffic!

Face painting and the many games available kept the kids happy.
Pony rides were back for a second time in 2011.
New This Year...

Mrs. Grantham couldn't keep up with the demand for balloon creations.

While the visit from DNR'S helicopter provided a special thrill in the soccer field.

Retired Geologist Bob Grantham, formerly of the NS Museum of Natural History,  presented a slide show & lecture on the original dig that unearthed Stanley the Mastodon in Carroll's Corner, complete with actual archeological artifacts.

Can You Say SOCCER?

Two fields going full blast as usual...

scenes from the back field...
On the Main Field, both practice and full tournament play at once...

How about the parents?

Well, Fun Day is all about the kids, but we do try to leave

some space for the parents too, sort of...
