Annual General Meeting
The Annual Meeting will be held at St. Paul's In Summerside at 2:30 pm on Sunday, June 13, 2010. The new Lay Director will be announced, and Rectors for upcoming weekends will also be announced. We will also have an election of one new member for the Secretariat. A nomination committee has been put in place.
If you are interested in letting your name stand for election, please contact Marsha Arsenault at marshaarsenault@hotmail.com. We are seeking nominations from individuals who reside in Summerside and east of Summerside to Belcourt or from Eastern PEI (general area includes: Morell, Souris, Cardigan, Georgetown, Montague, Vernon River). Nominations will also be accepted from the floor. Cursillistas are reminded that they should obtain the person's permision before the individual is nominated from the floor.
National Cursillo Conference
The National Cursillo Conference 2010 will be held on the campus of St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, June 24- 27, 2010 at the Keating Millennium Centre. The conference theme is 'The Ten Topics of Cala Figuera - as Rooted in the Gospel and Lived Out in the Mentality of the Movement. Additional information will be available in January on the national website.
Atlantic Cursillo Conference 2010
The Canadian Conference of Catholic Cursillos will present "A Cursillo of Cursillos" on Prince Edward Island September 16-19, 2010 at the Cavendish Gateway Resort in Mayfield. The conference begins at 7 pm on Thursday and concludes at 4:00 pm on Sunday. The cost for the weekend is $130 per person. Participation at the Cursillo of Cursillos will be limited to 120 due to the size of the conference room. More information and a registration form is available to download. Background: the Cursillo movement, of which we are part, is formally called 'Cursillo de Christiandad or Cursillo in Christianity'. For the most part, though, the movement across the world is informally referred to as 'Cursillo'. As you know Cursillo stands for a 'short course'. Therefore, candidates on a Cursillo weekend experience a 'short course in Christianity'. In June, 2010, in Mayfield, we will experience a "short course in Cursillo". Many Cursillistas across Canada had attended the Cursillo of Cursillos in Mallorca, Spain in 2007. In June, 2009, a member of the Mallorcan Cursillo secretariat came to Canada to lead a Cursillo of Cursillos at the National in Ontario. PEI is now very privileged to host the Canadian Conference of Catholic Cursillos presenting a Cursillo of Cursillos for Cursillistas in the Atlantic region.
