Descendants of Edward Faithfull and Jane Twinning

Generation No. 1

        1. Edward Faithfull. He married Jane Twinning. Edward's occupation, as listed on several of the children's baptisms, was carpenter. Several places of residence are listed. They include such addresses as "Liberty of Westminster", in 1834; St. Margaret's, Westminster in 1838; and Blue Anchor Yard, York Street, Fulham in 1843.

        Children of Edward Faithfull and Jane Twinning are:

  2 i. Rebecca Twinny Faithfull, born November 03, 1833 in Isleworth; died November 30, 1893 in Kensington, London. In the 1881 census for Kensington, Rebecca was listed as a visitor in the home of Fanny Markham. She was unmarried and her occupation was listed as "upholsteress".

Generation No. 2

        5. Benjamin Joseph Faithfull (Edward) was born July 21, 1843 in Westminster, England, and died April 1907 in Fulham, London, England. He married Ellen Dye 1869. Ellen was born 1842 in Maryleborne. Benjamin's occupation was listed as "master grainer" and they lived at 16 Cambridge Road, Hammersmith, London in 1891. After the death of Benjamin in 1907, Ellen came to Canada and lived with her son Rowland at 1 Albermarle Street, Hamilton, Ontario, until her death in 1927. At this time it is not known exactly how many or which children came to Canada, but in Rowland's military records there is mention of 2 sisters coming to Canada with his mother. Also while discribing their home it is mentioned that the home was bought with Separation Allowances by mother while "sons" were overseas. On 05 February 1916 Benjamin David (age 28) joined the C.E.F. in Hamilton, Ontario and listed his home address as 351 Pacific Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. How he came to be living in Manitoba while the rest of his family lived in Hamilton is one of my unanswered questions and would love to hear from anyone who may be able to shed some light on Ben David Faithfull.

Note:
Benjamin Joseph Faithfull (#5);
occupation:
"master grainer"
definition: He painted wood to look like great and expensive woods. It was quite the style in Victorian and Edwardian England. It really should be called "wood grainer", these days it would be known as "faux finishing".
