"BEFORE THE JOURNEY!!!"

Outside the Sackville Sports Stadium

The Sackville Sports Stadium was the first public sponsor of the "Cup of Cold Water" Project. The y have generously agreed to provide complimentary memberships for Donna and Evan, and have designated a personal trainer, Tim Keliher, to help prepare Evan for this cross-Canada walk.

Training hard!

While Tim keeps a close eye on him, Evan works on muscle strengthening and walks many kilometers on the treadmill preparing himself for the rigorous 8500 km. walk.

The "Cup of Cold Water" Project's display at the Sackville Sports Stadium. All funds collected here and at all locations across Canada during the walk are for fresh water wells in Haiti.

Matthew in Haiti

In the summer of 1997, Evan and Donna's son, Matthew, visited Haiti for seven weeks. Here, he volunteered at medical clinics and for much of the time lived with a local Haitian family. Matthew saw first hand the desperate need for safe water in this country. A member of his host family had to travel each day to another town to buy a bucket of water for the family's daily needs.

When Matthew returned home, he, along with his parents, were determined to help construct wells for the Haitians.

Matthew is currently a medical doctor with Capital Health in Halifax
