“Show us the way that we should go and the thing that
we should do” Jeremiah 42:3
There
is a moment of truth that occurs when one is confronted by the way one has lived
if that life has not been lived in communion with God. There is an emptiness
inside that cannot be satisfied but by God Himself. This emptiness cries out to be filled and
many try the wide path, serving the passions and intellectual pursuits that seem
to gratify them but only temporarily.
The fruits of this kind of life do not last. This is typified in the
dark devastated land to the left of the bridge. There one can see the snares of
the evil one that are hidden in the snake and the fox that blend into the
landscape.
