The following awards are given by the
Executive.
Nova Scotia Association of Library Technicians
Award of Excellence
The
NSALT Award of Excellence is the Association’s highest honour
that can be bestowed on a member of NSALT. It is awarded in recognition
of outstanding service to the Library Technicians of Nova Scotia and to
NSALT.
Nomination
criteria:
1. Nominees must be members
of NSALT.
2. Nominations must be made
by two nominators, one of whom must be a current member of NSALT.
3. Nominators should state
their working or professional relationship to the nominee.
4. Nominators must provide
letters providing appropriate evidence to demonstrate the
nominee’s suitability.
5. Letters should include
evidence of a particular significant service to NSALT, evidence of
sustained and significant service to NSALT, or evidence of significant
particular or ongoing contribution to library technicians or library
service in Nova Scotia.
The
nomination committee consists of the Past-President and two NSALT
members-at-large.
The
award is presented annually at the Annual General Meeting in March.
The
award includes:

one year membership
-
engraved plaque
Nominations
must be submitted by January 31.

Letter of Recognition
The
NSALT Letter of Recognition is given to a person who:
-
has rendered a significant, special, or specific
service to library technicians in Nova Scotia, or
-
has fostered the promotion and development of
libraries or library services
Nominations
may be submitted at any time and will be considered by the Awards
Committee.
The
Awards Committee consists of the Past President and two NSALT
members-at-large.
Nomination
criteria:
6. Nominees do not have to be
members of NSALT.
7. The NSALT Letter of
Recognition may be awarded to more than one person for different
achievements.
8. Nominations must be made
by two nominators, one of whom must be a current member of NSALT.
9. Nominators should state
their working or professional relationship to the nominee.
10.
Nominators must provide letters providing
appropriate evidence to demonstrate the nominee’s suitability.
11.
Letters should give evidence of the
nominee’s significant, particular or ongoing contribution to
library technicians or library service in Nova Scotia.

Library Technician Student
Award
The
Nova Scotia Association of Library Technicians provides this award to
recognize the graduating student who demonstrates a commitment to the
Library Technician professional and is also an active member in the
Association.
Student
awards are recommended by the Nova Scotia Community College Library and
Information Technology Program instructors.
The
award includes:

a one year membership

a monetary reward
-
award certificate
This
award is given annually at the Nova Scotia Community College Award
Ceremony.
