Faulkner Waterfowl Calls

"Select A Wood"

Wood selection is a matter of personal preference for the most part. Sound differs slightly with different woods and can be altered in the tuning process. Generally, the more dense the wood the sharper the resulting sound. Only the finest wood goes into a Faulkner Call. Wood is selected for its tonal qualities as well as appearance. Considerable time and expense goes into selecting the finest wood as shown in the highly figured Birds-Eye Maple board shown at the left.
Pictured below are three scans of Cocobolo wood;
which, as you can see, varies widely in appearance
Below are samples of the figured Maple used in many Faulkner Calls.
Birds-Eye Maple
Curly Maple
(also referred to as Tiger or Flamed Maple)
Faulkner Waterfowl Calls has access to many other wood species such as this Maple Burl shown below. If you are interested in a call made from a certain wood please ask and a quote will be provided.
