I am the luckiest teacher in the land!

Each day students bring a bright, encouraging and positive chemistry to the school. I confess, I started out this academic year trying to do too much. I tried as a keen, young teacher, to mold students in my way, to push too hard to go to a place that I didn't even know; I tried too hard to make things happen that I was certain, far too certain, had to be. I've learned more than anyone else at Full Circle. I've learned that sometimes the best lessons and curriculum to pursue are the lessons and curriculum students teach and share with each other. I've learned to facilitate rather than teach/preach. Our students are far better teachers than I could hope to be. I guide curriculum to be covered: there is a gentle balance of official, formal curriculum with more informal discussions, demonstrations and activities. I've learned that each student knows what is best for herself/himself and I can, indeed, must, act as a guide only.
