I graduated in 1983 from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) with a Bachelor of Design in Communication. I have been a professional Member of the Society of Graphic Designers since 2004, twice serving as Chapter Secretary. I was the in-house designer at Nova Scotia Power for 10 years before setting up my own freelance business in 1996. During the 1996 fall semester I taught the course Manuscript to Pre-press to design students at NSCAD.

I am keenly interested in the Halifax community and my extracurricular activities have included the Board of Directors of St. Joseph’s Children’s Centre, school advisory councils, coaching girls’ basketball, annual volunteering with the Blue Nose Marathon, political campaigning, the HRM Heritage Advisory Committee and, at present, the Regional Plan Advisory Committee. I am a regular yoga practitioner and sincere music lover; I play second euphonium with the Halifax Concert Band.
