What are Merit Badges:

Scouts Canada's Wolf Cub program offers badges to youth members as a mark of achievement in an interest area. The badges are grouped into six activity areas. Each activity area offers a variety of badges/stars or awards that youth may earn. Requirements for activity badges vary, and many may be tailored for youths' interests and talents. These activities may be completed individually or with others.

Each activity area includes or two advanced badges known as "Awards". Typically, youth may only aspire to acquire the awards after first earning the star and a number of badges in the activity area. Cubs can continue to wear these awards on their sash when they move up to Scouts.

The six activity areas are outlined in separate sections below. Stars and titles can be clicked for details on the Activity Area.

Earning Badges at Home

Pick a badge you want to work on and read the requirements carefully. Some badges require you do all the requirements and some badges you only have to do some of the requirements. As you finish each requirement, have your parents initial and date your Cub Book. When we do our badge testing night a leader will ask you questions to see what you have done or learned. If you get stuck your leader will help you, but it is important to prepare a head of time.

Cubs should look at school projects and assignments they have done, special school and family trips. Cubs may consider community or school groups they belong to such as choirs, sports teams or church groups.

Earning Badges as a Pack:

Each year our Cub Program centers on a particular Activity Area. For example this year we are focusing on the Blue Star – Home and Community. Through our weekly meeting we will work on different badges and awards for that particular activity area. This will be done through fun interactive activities in the hall, special speakers as well as special outings.

These badges will be awarded on badge nights, based on the attendance of the cub for each activity.

We will also be working on our Green Star Activities through out the year during our weekend camps and hikes.
