Who We Are
The Atlantic Flute Society was first formed in 1991 to
bring flutists together from the four easternmost provinces of Canada -- Nova Scotia,
New Brunswick, Prince
Edward Island, and Newfoundland.
It provides a forum for the sharing of ideas and resources based on a common
passion for the flute and its repertoire. Aficionados of all styles of
music and all manner of flutes are absolutely welcome in this exchange.
We present concerts, host masterclasses, and hold ensemble
get-togethers. Any flute events and concerts in the Atlantic Provinces may be announced on
this website, as well as notices of instruments for sale, the services of
performers and teachers, masterclasses, and other related items. Please
direct your inquiries to the Webmaster.
The current executive of the Atlantic Flute Society consists of Sandra
Britten, Elizabeth Du Bois, Linda Schroeder, and Jennifer Publicover.
Volunteers are always needed to help with events sponsored by the Flute
Society, as well as with executive duties. It is a great way to get
acquainted with your flute community! Contact us for details.
How to Join
Currently there is no membership fee. To place your
name on the email list to be notified as new items are announced on the
website and to get more information on specific events, contact the
Webmaster. Your email address will be kept confidential.
Meetings of the Atlantic Flute Society take place in the Halifax area sporadically as needed. You do not need to attend meetings to be a member. We would like to reach out to all flutists in the Atlantic Provinces, no
matter where you are. If you can attend any meetings, your input is
valuable there. Bring your flute along and enjoy the informal
atmosphere. If you can't
attend meetings, your input is valuable too, via the Webmaster.
