A Brazilian Music Workshop by Flutist
CELSO WOLTZENLOGEL

A Musicstop Event
Monday, August 18, 7:00pm
Canadian Conservatory of Music
6065 Cunard St, Halifax

Mr. Woltzenlogel invited flute players of all ages and skill levels to play with him some arrangements of the great themes of popular Brazilian music such as "The Girl from Ipanema", "Tico-tico no fuba", and "One Note Samba" and to learn more about the "Brazilian way to play the syncopation."  The arrangements, published by Celso himself, were for four flutes plus bass. Musicstop provided the talents of Paul Vienneau on bass guitar. Celso travelled with a sample case of specialty flutes including a wooden flute, an alto, a flauto d'amore, and piccolo, plus one each of Sankyo's 5k, 14k, and 18k solid gold hand-made flutes, which the participants were encouraged to try and to use them in the ensembles. Organised by Andrew Beazley of Musicstop, this event was produced and sponsored in its entirety by Musicstop and Sankyo Flutes.

The workshop was small, friendly, and fun, much in the nature of a rehearsal / jam session.  The arrangements were tight and rhythmically exciting.  Celso himself was a gracious gentleman and most accomplished musician, who also cut an elegant figure on the dance floor!
