Yearly through the ELCIC, we help to support Brian Rude.
Brian is a modern day missionary serving in El Salvador.
In 1988 he began serving the Fe y Esperanza orphange of the Lutheran Church of El Salvador.
In 1994 Brian's focus shifted to AIDS ministry. More recently funding from Lutheran World
Federation and the ELCIC has helped him to deveop Quetzalcoatl, a foundation
that promotes human well-being, self-esteem and AIDS prevention among prison
inmates in El Salvador. He also provides pastoral support for AIDS patients
and family members.
Refering to AIDS ministry, Brian writes: "So many have so long since given
up on the church, and any good news it might claim to offer, hearing mostly
self-righteousness and judgment, and experiencing mostly rejection and
condemnation. Hopefully the entire church will open its heart tot he broad
range of God's creation, so that we can love and be loved, teach and learn,
be channels of and receive God's grace, together."
