This is our story of J/27 #150 "Nut Case" (formerly Licketey Split and Reckless Disregard) beginning in November 2007.

Our story begins years ago with dingies, sailing with parents, junior sailing, etc... and then skips many years to our first boat as adults - a 1974 Paceship P23.  It evolves to a small racer/cruiser - the 26 foot Niagara 26 Full Tilt 2 which sold in November 2007.  With the sale of Full Tilt 2 we were boat less.  However the exchange rate between Canadian and US currencies had opened up a huge buyers market and after only two weeks our concept of replacing the racer/cruiser with something of equal or better performance but less cabin had resulted in a deposit on a 1987 J27 with the eventual purchase completed January 2008.

This web site chronicles our sailing adventures aboard "Nut Case" as well as the numerous projects that were required to restore the boat to the condition it deserves.  So far it has been a fun project with a lot of work and very enjoyable sailing.

Looking for a replacement after Full Tilt 2 was sold the priority was as good or better performance and cabin room was the sacrifice.  After looking at Kirby 25, Bombardier 7.6, Olson 25 we found a J/27 for sale at a suitable price.  This site chronicles the journey from finding the J27, thru retrofit and sailing.  The J-27 offers an exhilarating sailing performance with performance and speed associated with 35 foot yachts in a 27 foot vessel.

Note:  Niagara 26 #002 Full Tilt 2 can be found here.
