Messianic Rabbi David Hargis was promoted to glory on Tuesday, December 26, 2006. Rabbi Hargis was the congregational leader of Mishkan HaMelekh Messianic Congregation in Newport News, Virginia. He was also the president of Messianic Bureau International and the rosh yeshiva of Messianic Bible Institute - MBI Yeshiva.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Rabbi David was held at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday, December 31, 2006 at the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Chapel, 245 South Armistead Ave., Hampton, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the David M. Hargis Memorial Scholarship Fund of MBI Yeshiva, 701B Industrial Park Drive, Newport News, VA 23608.
Also, a nice gesture would be to plant trees in Israel in memory of Rabbi Hargis. This can be done at Trees To Israel or Trees for the Holy Land.

Oh, the
man was not a saint, because no mortal man could be,
But the man, he was the kind I've tried so very hard to be.
For he said it does not matter what you earn or where you live,
For a man, he is remembered by the way that he would give.
And the man, he was a giver, and he gave with all his heart,
But it pained him so to take, because he loved the giving part.
So I give to you my father dear in sad memoriam,
For this man, he is a better man, for knowing he's your son.
