Follow the guidelines below to ensure that you have a successful  P R A C T I C E session!

Play through a favorite polished piece to warm up for your practice session.

Read completely through your written assignments so that you know what you need to

accomplish by your next lesson.

Assigned Pieces – carefully look over the piece and determine what you want to

accomplish TODAY during your practice time. (Ex. be able to play first two lines hands together, play LH through entire piece with the MM=80, be able to play RH comfortably with consistent fingering, etc.)

Tips for Trouble Spots:

Carefully look over the piece and determine what you want to accomplish TODAY during your practice time. (Ex. be able to play first two lines hands together, play LH through entire piece with the MM=80, be able to play RH comfortably with consistent fingering, etc.)

Tips for Trouble Spots:

          practice VERY slowly

practice hands separately

practice one measure at a time

practice every other measure

          Here’s a fun idea:

Place three objects on one side of the piano. Every time you play a designated section perfectly, move one object over to the other side. Every time you make a mistake, move all the objects back to the beginning side. See if you can get all three objects to the other side!

Complete written assignments (theory).

Technique work – this includes finger strengthening exercises, scales, chords, arpeggios, and other specific drills.

Invent and Explore – have fun making up your own songs or trying to pick out other songs by ear on the piano!

Checkmark your assignments and record your practice time.
