Smaller Ensembles
Several of our orchestra members also play in smaller groups in addition to the
orchestra. These groups often play at weddings, church services,
community dances and private parties and functions. If you are interested in having
one of these groups perform at your event, contact the group's leader.
Pictou County String Quartet
The Pictou County String Quartet has been playing together since 1990,
learning a wide repertoire for their own pleasure and that of audiences at
gatherings large and small.
They can often be heard at weddings and receptions in the Truro, New Glasgow
and Antigonish area.

Goin' for Baroque Ensemble
Pictou County Community Orchestra oboeist Marty Alpert, flutist Jennifer Carter and
pianist Aaron Padolsky form this trio which plays music from mostly the
baroque and classical repertoires. Often joined by special musical guests,
they perform concerts and weddings. For more information on

Antigonish Brass Quartet
The Antigonish Brass Quartet was founded in 2004 by the orchestra's French Horn player,
Steven Holloway.
He is joined by trumpeters Tammy Duggan and Andy Hirt with trombonist Fred Davison.
They play arrangements from all musical periods, often borrowing from the
choral repertoire.
The quartet has appeared at university functions, in the Antigonish Town
Gazebo, and at church services in Antigonish.

Good Times Orchestra
The Good Times Orchestra is a swing/dance band featuring nine instrumentalists and
two vocalists. Three PCCO members also play in this group, which
plays arrangements of jazz standards from Cole Porter, Glen Miller and Jerome Kern,
as well as pop favourites from the Beatles and more recent tunes. Polkas, Dixieland
jazz and waltzes are thrown in to insure everyone gets on their feet dancing.
The group is available
for wedding receptions, dinner dances, and private parties.
