Obituary: Halifax Herald, Sept. 8, 2006 - JOUDREY, Helen Celeste - 81, Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in Shoreham Village, Chester. Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Bertha (Lloyd) Legge. Helen was a former employee at Seamone's Bakery, the Liverpool Steadman's Store, and K & W Bookbinding. She was a life member of the Mersey Branch No. 38, Royal Canadian Legion, Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing darts, crib and loved playing bingo. She is survived by daughter, Celeste "Bonnie" (Gino) Wong, Liverpool; son, William "Billy" (Maxine), Milton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Joseph, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Hector; son, Hector "Sonny"; sisters, Eva, Irene and Marion; brothers, Charlie and Robert. Visitation will be held today from 7-9 p.m., and a funeral service will be held Saturday, September 9, at 10:30 a.m., both in Chandlers' Funeral Home, Liverpool, Rev. David Hatt officiating. Obituary: Chronicle Herald, Jan. 30, 1996 - JOUDREY, Hector J. - 70, Liverpool, died January 28, 1996, at home. Born in Pleasantfield, Queens Co., he was a son of Helen C. (Joudrey) Miller, Pleasantfield. He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe with the Algonquin Regiment; Royal Canadian Army Corps as a brenn gunner. He was wounded in the line of duty in Germany in 1945. Following the war he was a self-employed logger and truck driver as well as working for Steel and Engine Products Ltd. and Acadia Construction. He also ran a service station in Liverpool for a number of years. He was a corps commissionaire and worked at TeleGlobe Canada, Mill Village until his retirement. He was a guard at the Liverpool RCMP detachment. Surviving are his wife, the former Helen C. Legge; daughter, Bonnie (Mrs. Gene Wong), Brooklyn; sons, Hector (Sonny), William, Milton; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Irene (Mrs. Merrill Croft), Dartmouth; Vera (Mrs. Leaman Fancy), Bridgewater; half sister, Audrey; half brothers, Harold Miller, Milton; Gerry Miller, Cardinel, Ont.; Ronnie Miller, Bridgewater; Russell Miller, Hempford Forest, Lunenburg Co.; Terry Webber, Sydney. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Lorne Miller; half brother, Raymond. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday both in Chandlers' Funeral Chapel, Liverpool, Rev. Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Thaddeus and Nettie (Lloyd) Wentzell. In her earlier years she taught school for two years. She was a member of the Christ Anglican Church, New Ross, and took an active part in church and community affairs. She dedicated her life to raising her family. She is survived by son, Charles "Ted" (Bertha) Russell, New Ross; daughters, Myrna (Ronald) Hyson, Indian Point; Dorothy Reeves and Sylvia Turner, both of New Ross; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; brothers, Laurie and Jordan, both of Milton; Vin, Ladysmith, B.C.; sisters, Ruth (Forrest) Hartlen, Milton; Pat Sampson, Halifax. He was a member of the Milton Community Association. Lawrence loved to travel. He is survived by his wife, Irene (Wile); son, Clayton (Shirley), Grimsby, Ont.; grandchildren, Bradley (Cathy), Shirl-lynn (Mike) and Adam, all of Ontario; great-grandchildren, Alexis Kaitlyn and Jacob; sisters, Ruth (Forrest) Hartlen, Milton; Patsy Sampson, Halifax; brothers, Jordan, Liverpool; Vincent, Lady Smith, B.C.; many nieces and nephews. Born in Milton, she was a daughter of the late Thaddeus and Jeanette "Nettie" Wentzell. Ruth stayed at home to raise her family that she cherished so much. She liked to play cards, square dance, plan parties and go camping. She is survived by her sons, Terry (Marie), Cow Bay; Mervin (Bernadette), Milton; and Marven (Gwen), Porters Lake; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Patsy Sampson, Halifax; brother, Vincent, Ladysmith, B.C.
