WHO WE ARE
We are an advocacy group made up of people who have disabilities, professionals who work with people who have disabilities, and friends and family members. Members represent a broad base of organizations throughout Nova Scotia. We are a cross disability organization.
In 2001 the Nova Scotia government commissioned Dr. Michael Kendrick to do an independent evaluation of the Nova Scotia community based options community residential service system which became known as the Kendrick report. This report was never implemented by the government.
The Kendrick Report Coalition which later became the Disability Rights Coalition was formed because people in Nova Scotia felt strongly that the recommendations should be put in place. The Disability Rights Coalition continues to support the basic principles and recommendations in the Kendrick report.
THE DISABILITY RIGHTS COALITION HAS A VISION OF FULL INCLUSION AND CITIZENSHIP.
