Alice a young single-mom and her eight year old son, Jessie, had just moved to a new town where she was starting a new job.
The town was located near an air force base which Jessie thought was neat. Every day as Jessie was getting home from school, the Auroras would take off and circle the village while new pilots practiced their skills.
Jessie was enchanted with this and would rush home to watch them, excitedly draging his mother with him.
At first, Alice was genuinely as excited as Jessie but soon lost interest. Still, she thought it important to join Jessie in spite of her ever increasing boredom.
One day, a couple of the neighbours were chatting next door when Jessie appeared with his mother.
Alice couldn’t hide her yawn which was noticed by the two friends. One friend turned to the other and asked what's wrong with Alice?’
