the diva and the magnate
The on again off again sale of pop diva Mary J's ocean side property in Nova Scotia, Canada is,
according to sources close to the diva, on again.
The location and date chosen for closing the deal have not been revealed, but one of Mary J's
closest friends has hinted at Chester some time in March.
You will remember the diva's rise to world wide acclaim as a result of the much publicized legal wrangle
with a well known movie personality, who shall remain nameless.
The Diva accused this person of sexual harassment and trifling with her affections.
The alleged incident happened at a crowded SoHo pub.
Mary J. claimed the "gentleman" offered to buy her a drink and after she
had ordered her trademark drink, a lager with soda and raw egg, the "gentleman"
caused a furor when he refused to pay for or even admit to having made the offer.
A spokesman for the "gentleman", explained, the "person in question" was making his way
through the crowded pub and said "Please let me by (not buy)" and the whole thing was taken out of context.
The "person in question" regretted causing any embarrassment to Mary J. and had sent the diva an apology
along with 50p for a drink on him
Unfortunately for the "gentleman" this episode didn't go down well with his wife.
On top of that, Mary J. took the "person in question" to court. The spokesman hinted
that she had done it for the publicity. The diva did become the talk of the town after the story broke.
Mary J, now reportedly in her 70's, was born in Oswestry, or as she calls
it, Oh Well It's Free, a Welsh border town. She gained notoriety during the London Blitz
with her show stopping hit "Just Give Me Five Minutes With Mr. H".
Appearing on stage in her "Churchill" boiler suit, a huge cigar in one hand, a large glass of whiskey in the other,
she rolled through her act until the cigar was finished, the whiskey glass was empty. She then stepped out
of the boiler suit to reveal nothing but a sign on her front which read
"Made In Britain" and another in back which read "Every Night, Dearie!"
Mary J. claims the reason the sale of her property in Nova Scotia has dragged on is
that a "certain" real estate developer magnate, had sent his agents to trespass on her ocean front property,
removing trees and changing boundary markers in an attempt to force the price down.
Sources close to the "developer" say he is only conducting a detailed
appraisal of the property and the charges are groundless. The Diva has also
complained the "developer" has ordered her three hundred barn
cats removed from the property.
There’s much speculation as to why "the real estate developer"
wants the property as it is surrounded by a large cemetery but no one is talking.
Until March stay tuned...
Editor's Note:
Pop Diva Mary J. is the mother of another celebrity, the world renowned pony rider Arlene.
