These are two sonnets I have written. One was for University English class and the other was just me fooling around with a few thoughts that were moving around in my grey matter....I hope you enjoy them even though I think they SUCK!!!
The first sonnet is about a single father who is praised for his great job with his daughter but he doesn't see what everyone else sees in him.
The second is the same man thinking about a women that he is interested in having a relationship with but he is intimidated by her beauty and realizes that she is in love with someone else.
PEERING IN THE GLASS
Peering in the glass, there he is alone;
The man that others envy for his heart,
They don't know how he does it on his own,
No player can be as good in his part.
For years he has been there to watch her grow;
A sire, there could be no greater one,
But times do come when he does feel so low,
The darkness will leave with the new day's sun.
They look to him with eyes of wonderment;
With words of admiration, they do cry,
For her hero who must be heaven sent,
An angel, alas will he ever fly?
They look to him with respect and glee;
But the man in the glass is only me.
SHE IS A BEAUTY
She is a beauty for the eye to see;
An angel, true love would make her fly high,
I wish that she would fall in love with me,
Alone I sit and think of her and sigh.
Her beauty is perfection to me;
Alas I am not as perfect as she,
My heart and soul, if only she could see,
But, alas, her heart bleeds only for he.
Peering in the glass, there I sit alone;
Wanting to have her beauty by my side,
Knowing that she will never be my own,
But it is not like I have ever tried.
To make her mine, her heart I must find;
Alas all her beauty has made me blind.
