At any quilt registration day, the project could process over one hundred quilts. These quilts represent a rich cultural history that all Nova Scotians should be proud of. We are anxious to see all quilts, plain or fancy, regardless of condition made before 1970.
Information gathered at Registration Days will be used for research and educational purposes. The purpose of this project is not only to record the tradition of quiltmaking, but also to record something of the lives of those who made the quilts. Quilt registries provide an excellent opportunity to gather historical information on various aspects of women's work, art/craft and social life. Similar projects have been carried out in the United States and Great Britain and are currently being carried out in other provinces across Canada.
There is no charge for registration
