About Me . . . .
I live in Truro, Nova Scotia with my husband Earle, and my dog izzy. I have one
child, a son, Matthew who is away at University and who is "my greatest
accomplishment".
I started as a part-time artist in 1990 while working a full time job. After
being hit with breast cancer for a second time in 2011 I decided life was
too short and it was time for me to follow my passion of becoming a
full time artist.
I am a self taught artist, and enjoy working in a variety of art styles.
"I enjoy experimenting with various styles, colors, textures and techniques.
I prefer to keep my paintings uncomplicated, and usually never know what I am
going to paint until my paint hits the canvas, but as the colors begin to flow,
a story begins to unfold."
"Painting makes me happy! It is the one thing that I can do by myself, where
it's all from my own mind, my soul and my imagination." My paintings explode
with bright colors, & warm, loving characters who would be a joy to know.!
My paintings can be found in numerous private and public collections around the
world. "It makes me happy that I can bring a smile to those who view my work
doing something I love to do."
I have illustrated for a children's book entitled, "Good Night Flying Cows", and
recently wrote and illustrated my own book of poems and paintings as part of my
healing process while going through cancer.
I have many hobbies....I love to golf, snow shoe, run. I did my first 1/2
marathon at the age of 52. What a wonderful experience. I love designing
logos and websites. I have a passion for recycled clothing and love to create
and sew new pieces of clothes from them. I enjoy making crochet scarves, dog
collars, and hair accessories, and beaded jewelry. I also license my artwork
for various products.
I have worked with many wonderful organizations:
SPCA International
Unicef
PAWS LA
Tree House Animal Foundation
Heifer International
Tim Horton's Children's Foundation
American Humane Organization
Humane Society of Canada
World Society for Protection of Animals
I have always had a love for the beauty of hooked rugs and appreciate
the talent and hard work that goes into one. My artwork seemed like the
perfect fit for designs.
Should you want a rug hooking pattern created especially for you in my
whimsy style, I love doing commission work, and will create line drawings
in any size to suit your needs! "I believe my artwork should be affordable
to everyone!"
