28th Sunday in Ordinary Time, October 14 and 15,2006

Funeral Liturgies: We ask you to please read the following directive from the Archdiocese of Halifax concerning Funeral Liturgies. "The eulogy - words of remembrance and praise for the one who has died, does not have a proper place in the Funeral Mass. In the homily the priest reflects on the life of the one who has died, in relation to God's grace and action, opening up how the life of the deceased is gathered into Christ's pascal mystery. The wake service at the funeral home is a very good place for a eulogy and other story telling, as is the reception after the Funeral Mass." Here at St. Agnes the practice is to have the eulogy at the reception. Thank you.

Religious Education Notices: Children's Liturgy begins this Sunday during the 10:30 Mass for grades 1-3. These children are invited to join the Liturgy of the Word each Sunday in the St. Agnes room where readings and Gospel of the day are presented in a language easy for the children.

Vice-Chair: John Bishop, Past Chair: Mary Hope, Secretary: Members: Jim Brown, Tim Dietrich, Joan Kean-Howie, Janice Landry, Matthew Marchand, Robin McNeil, Ron Tetreault, Tracey Williams. The Pastoral Council will work closely with the Financial Council and the many other committees to assist Fr Williams in making St. Agnes a very vibrant & faithful community. Two of our main goals this year are increasing the number of parish volunteers and improving the lines of communication, ensuring our parishioners know about the many great activities and events that happen in our parish community. The success & growth of St. Agnes happens because of the countless hours of dedication from parishioners and Fr. Williams and we look forward to working with everyone this year to continue that growth.
