Nova Scotia Power Inc. (NSPI) is a regulated utility supplying over 97%
of the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power to 450,000

Organized a project to update
core forecasting tools for energy and revenue. As project manager, ensured each
piece of the project was completed on time and on budget. The end result was an
updated model, which improved efficiency and allowed for more timely forecasts.
¨
Developed a successful,
adaptable business model for evaluating an existing product against core
business objectives, which allowed for timely evaluation and modification of
the product offering ensuring market objectives were met or exceeded.
¨
Initiated a comprehensive
comparative analysis tool for use by customer service agents in the
implementation of new rates across the company.
§
Allowed for quick analysis of
existing customers rates to the new rates, reducing call times and limiting
human error in calculations.
§
Assisted in the testing of the
Customer Billing System, saving valuable time in implementation.
§
Built the tool for a low cost in
a short time frame after vendor said it would be too costly.
Responsible for analyzing and
evaluating products and services for primarily industrial and large commercial
customers such as Stora Enso,
Michelin, Bowater Mersey and Purdy’s Wharf. Collaborated with the sales force to create
proposals for implementation by the customers.

Evaluated power line
implementation of high-speed internet applications on the NSPI electrical grid.
The project was determined unfeasible at that time.

Working with a small team, identified opportunities
that resulted in energy cost savings in excess of 60% for a large Emera
subsidiary in Cape Breton.
Responsible
for analyzing and evaluating products and services for all residential and
large singular customers that NSPI serves.
Worked as part of a team to develop overall product offering for
implementation by sales, and interfaced with the sales team on actual product
delivery.

Developed process for
implementation of new product offering to large commercial and industrial
customers.

Implemented the process with
small core team and sales support to launch product offering exceeding program
targets.

Program was a resounding
success, resulting in initial 5-year targets being met in 6 months.

Accomplished through immense
pre-work in identifying best-fit customers and aggressively campaigning the new
product offering to them through evaluations and feasibility analysis.

Identified a market niche that
was underserved by electric heating manufacturers and successfully lobbied to
have a new product created to serve this market. The manufacturer launched this
product in 2002 with great success across North America.
